Why are the sets important?
In our everyday life, we are surrounded by objects and surfaces that we have to interact with. Interaction is a key element of our choreography — our interaction with the objects around us, the spaces that contain us and our connections with each other. Our sets are not theatrical props. Instead, they are containers that we interact with and in which we play out events.
So much of dance is about trying to get off the floor too, so our sets are designed to create movement possibilities. For example, in REVELATIONS the performers never touch the stage — the set has an upper and a lower performance floor and most of the movement is aerial work, which involves either hanging from or climbing on the set.
